Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the top spot in the ICC  men’s ODI bowling rankings after taking 6-19 against England at The Oval on Tuesday.

Bumrah’s career-best figures saw India bowl England out for 110 in the first ODI before Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan chased down the target to secure a 10-wicket win.

The 28-year-old quick has sat at the top of the rankings before but was displaced by New Zealand left-armer Trent Boult in February 2020. Bumrah and Shaheen Afridi are the only two bowlers to currently sit in the top five of both the Test and ODI rankings in the men’s game.

Rohit’s knock hasn’t seen him progress in the rankings, but he is now just one rating point below third-placed Virat Kohli, who missed the opening ODI with a groin injury. Joe Root moved from No.10 to 11 in the ODI rankings after recording a duck at The Oval, swapping places with Australia white-ball captain Aaron Finch.

Suryakumar Yadav was the biggest Indian mover in the latest rankings update after his 55-ball 117 in the third T20I against England at Trent Bridge. He jumped 44 places to fifth place in the men’s T20I batting rankings, making him the highest-ranked India batter in the shortest international format.

Sri Lanka’s series-levelling victory over Australia at Galle has seen Dimuth Karunaratne advance to No.7 in the Test batting rankings. Usman Khawaja has moved in the other direction, dropping to No.8.
