South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn has been ruled out of the Cricket World Cup after failing to recover from a shoulder injury.
Left-arm quick Beuran Hendricks has been called up as his replacement for the rest of the tournament.
Steyn suffered a second shoulder injury which has not responded to treatment and has “ruled him out of bowling for the foreseeable future”, according to an ICC statement.
It comes as a blow to South Africa, who have lost their opening two matches of the tournament, against England and Bangaldesh respectively.
