by Wisden Staff 1 minute read

South Africa fast bowler Lungi Ngidi left the field with a hamstring injury in the seventh over of their World Cup match against Bangladesh on Sunday.

VIEW SCORECARD

The 23-year-old felt discomfort in his left leg after bowling only four overs, in which he went for 34 runs and was targeted by opener Soumya Sarkar.

After receiving considerable treatment, the South Africa medical staff decided that Ngidi should not take part in the rest of the innings.

While it will leave South Africa light of pace options for the rest of today’s game, Dale Steyn should return for their next encounter against India on Wednesday as he makes his way back from a shoulder problem.
