by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

Watch: Nepal’s Sompal Kami indulged in a novel celebration after dismissing UAE’s Rohan Mustafa in an ODI between the sides, leaping onto the back of the departing batter.

Mustafa took the celebration in his stride, confirming later that the moment was all in good fun.

The incident took place during the Cricket World Cup League 2 clash between the two sides. During the 46th over of the UAE innings, Kami got the better of Mustafa with a sizzling yorker. He then ran towards the batter, leaping and slapping him on the back. Another Nepal player was seen congratulating Mustafa for his 73-ball 60.

This incident was later referred to in social media as an example of “True spirt of the game”.

The two players are close, and this was a playful gesture from Kami.

Mustafa later tweeted about the incident, saying, “He is my brother trust me I get happy on his success!!”

UAE scored 202-9 in the first innings, and went on to win the game by 99 runs. Rohan Mustafa won the player of the match award for his efforts.
