Watch: Virat Kohli tried his arm at bowling and Jasprit Bumrah turned into an umpire while warming up before the India-Sri Lanka game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai today (November 2).

As India and Sri Lanka geared up for the clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, two senior India pros were spotted enjoying themselves as they deviated from their roles while warming up before the game.

Kohli was seen rolling his arm over as he bowled a few deliveries in the nets while Bumrah stood behind the stumps at the non-striker’s end as an umpire, signaling a wide as Kohli turned behind to appeal after a ball.

Given the kind of start they have had, winning all of their first six games at the 2023 World Cup so far, the Indian team was naturally in a relaxed mode ahead of their seventh.

Sri Lanka, however, made a strong start to the game. They won the toss and elected to field first, much to everyone’s surprise, but prised out the big wicket of Rohit Sharma on the second ball of the innings, with Dilshan Madushanka knocking over his off-stump with a slower delivery that gripped on the surface.

Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill also found it tough to negotiate the swing and seam on offer with both playing several false shots within the first few overs, before stitching together a big stand.

The last two games at this venue in this World Cup have been won by the team batting first. India would hope to continue that trend.
