Watch: Virat Kohli was visibly angry at his dismissal against England today (October 29) as he was seen punching the dressing room sofa in frustration.

Virat Kohli, who averaged 118 in the 2023 World Cup before today, strode out to loud cheers at No.3. However, smart planning and execution by the England bowlers and fielders meant that he was tied at one end. In fact, he couldn’t even get off the mark in his first eight deliveries and succumbed to the pressure on his ninth.

A back of length ball by David Willey was spliced straight to mid-off by him as he stepped out and tried to go aerial. It turned out to be the very first duck scored by Kohli in World Cups, ODIs and T20Is combined, as well as his longest duck in ODIs.

Having set extremely high standards for himself, Kohli was naturally cross with himself. A video emerged capturing his frustration inside the dressing room as he was seen punching the sofa angrily moments after his dismissal.

England bowled well throughout India’s innings, picking regular wickets even as Rohit Sharma put on a masterclass with his 87 off 101 balls. Suryakumar Yadav chipped in with 49 as well, helping India cross 200 and end up with 229-9.

For England, David Willey was the star of the show, picking 3-45 off his ten overs which included two maidens as well.
