Watch: Virat Kohli took a sharp catch in the slip cordon by leaping in the air to dismiss Australia opener Mitchell Marsh off Jasprit Bumrah’s delivery today (October 8) in the IND vs AUS match at World Cup 2023 in Chennai.
India had the ideal start after they were asked to bowl by Australia. The Australian opening duo of Marsh and Warner started cautiously. Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj, who took the new ball for the hosts, were bowling some fine channels.
At the 2.2-over mark, Bumrah bowled a fast inswinger, hitting on a good length. Marsh played the ball with hard hands while trying to guide it in the third-man region. The delivery took the outside edge of his bat, and Kohli did the rest of the job. Standing at first slip, the Indian No.3 threw his body to his left in a cat-like reflex. His leap of faith allowed him to pouch the delivery safely while he was still in the air. The next moment, he landed on his shoulder, sending Marsh packing for a duck.
