Watch: Mohammed Shami took two wickets in three balls, dismissing Kane Williamson and Tom Latham, to pull the World Cup semi-final back into India’s grasp.

New Zealand had started to find their feet in a massive run chase of 398. Having lost their first two wickets inside the powerplay, Williamson and Daryl Mitchell had put on a monster partnership to see them reach 220-2 in the 32nd over. Four overs earlier, Shami had dropped a sitter off Williamson at mid-wicket, which looked like it had the potential to be a crucial moment in the match.

However, having already taken two wickets in first spell, Shami was brought on for his second to try and break the partnership. Mitchell reached his fifth ODI century off the first ball of Shami’s over, tucking the ball of his pads to bring up three figures and bring Williamson on strike.

Off his second ball, Williamson looked to go big. He flicked a deliver which was sliding down the leg side from Shami high into the air towards deep square leg. Suryakumar Yadav was waiting on the boundary and took a comfortable catch, and give Shami a 50th World Cup wicket.

Williamson had to go for 69, a relief for Shami given his earlier drop, and Latham came out to the crease. He played out Shami’s next ball for a dot, getting well forward with a block, but played all around the one that followed. Bowling round the wicket, Shami angled the ball into Latham who missed it completely, the ball striking him on his front pad.

Richard Illingworth raised his finger straight away, the ball looking set to cannon into leg stump. Those two wickets took New Zealand from 220-2 to 220-4, and firmly swung the game back towards India.
