Meg Lanning shocked the cricket community by announcing retirement from international cricket today, November 9. Here is how the world reacted to the news.

In an emotional announcement where she struggled to control her tears, Meg Lanning, the former Australia captain, bid adieu to her 13-year-long international career.

Lanning said that she had run out of the ‘spark’ required to play at the international level and would now like to move on to other things. One of, if not the most successful female cricketers to have ever played the game, Lanning excelled both as a batter and as a leader for Australia.

Her last appearance in international cricket came in the final of the 2023 T20 World Cup, where she led Australia to a record sixth title. Here is how the cricket community paid their tributes to the legend of the game.
