India’s 2023 World Cup match against New Zealand is on Sunday, October 22, and here are the rain predictions for IND vs NZ, scheduled to be held in Dharamsala.

India will take on New Zealand in their fifth game of the World Cup, with both teams remaining unbeaten so far. While India have defeated Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh, New Zealand have also won four in four and are placed on top of the table due to a superior Net Run Rate.

IND vs NZ: What is the latest weather and rain update?

1:15 pm local time, match day: The weather forecast for the day has improved from last night. Accuweather predicts no more chances of precipitation throughout the day, while the BBC prediction for rain has decreased as well, with the highest chance of rainfall predicted to be 21 percent, at around 3:30 pm local time.

As far as the rain predictions for IND vs NZ go, according to Accuweather, rain could affect the start of the game, with heavy cloud cover predicted just ahead of play. Till 1 pm IST, there is only a one percent chance of precipitation on Sunday, but it increases to 47 percent at 1 pm, one hour before the match begins.

At 2 pm IST, there is a 51 percent chance of rain, with the temperature dropping to 15 degrees Celsius. Between 3 pm to 4 pm IST, the chances of rain are 47 percent, which will fall to 14 percent in the next hour.

Though heavy showers are forecast to stop thereafter, it will still be drizzling till up to 7 pm IST. After that, the rain is expected to reduce and we could see some action if the outfield is declared fit for play.

The sandy outfield at Dharamsala has been under the scanner in this World Cup, and rain could make the conditions riskier for the fielders.

If it does rain, it will also be the fourth time in five matches at ICC men’s events that an India-New Zealand clash will be affected by the weather. The league game between the two teams in the 2019 World Cup was washed out; the semi-final went into the reserve day; and the 2019-2021 World Test Championship final was affected by rain, forcing the play to go into the sixth day.

Only the 2021 T20 World Cup match was played out without interruption.
