Watch: The very first wicket of the 2022 County Championship was a seaming beauty courtesy of Durham’s Matty Potts.

This wicket fell in the Division 2 encounter between Durham and Glamorgan at Cardiff, where Durham had won the toss and elected to field. It took all of 20 balls for the Durham bowlers to strike, when Matty Potts got one to swing in sharply from good length, and beat the defences of Andrew Salter.
Salter could do little other than see his bails fly off in the air, even as the Durham fielders celebrated this dismissal. The next man in, Colin Ingram, was able to give a sense of order to Glamorgan’s batting, even as wickets fell from the other end.
