Watch: Hasan Ali produced a sizzling in-swinging delivery in the 2022 County Championship that flew past Josh Shaw’s defence and sent his off stump cartwheeling.

The dismissal occurred off the fifth ball of the 91st over; Hasan went slightly wide of the crease and bowled a delivery on a back of a length outside the off stump. The ball swung in the air before hitting the surface and decking back into the batter. Shaw could only have a tentative prod at it, as the ball whistled past his bat and left the off stump in a mess. Gloucestershire were shot out for 252 in their first innings before conceding 556 runs in Lancashire’s opening essay. Looking to salvage a draw, they lost a string of wickets early in their innings and were tottering at 127-7 at one stage. Shaw and Tom Lace kept Lancashire at bay, batting more than 20 overs and adding 79 runs. Just on the stroke of tea, however, Hasan effected a vital breakthrough, meaning that Lancashire went into the interval requiring only two wickets for victory.
