Watch: Haris Rauf, who was making his County Championship debut for Yorkshire, produced a sizzling delivery on day one to trap Gloucestershire’s Tom Lace LBW.

The dismissal occurred on the final ball of the 66th over, a delivery after he had dismissed Ryan Higgins. Rauf, who has an excellent white-ball reputation, speared a yorker on the middle and leg stump. Lace could only fence at it without any foot movement, meaning that the ball breezed past the bat. The ball thudded into the pads and the umpire had no qualms in raising his finger.

Matthew Fisher, who recently made his England Test debut against the West Indies, was the standout bowler and bagged four wickets. But it was Rauf who broke the back of the Gloucestershire innings, picking up two wickets in two balls to reduce the opposition to 167-6 from 167-4. Four overs later, he added a third to further dent Gloucestershire.

In reply, Yorkshire got off to a wobbly start before Adam Lyth and Dawid Malan joined hands to restore some sort of stability.
