The entirety of Glamorgan’s playing XI came on to have a bowl against Surrey in a run-filled County Championship fixture at The Oval.

In the final round of this year’s Championship, the Division Two encounter between both sides began with the visitors declaring on 672-6 in their first innings.

Surrey, however, went even bigger when it came their turn to bat, putting up 722-4 before the match was called a draw on the final day – the lowest score by a batter dismissed in the match was 36, hit by Glamorgan opener Hamish Rutherford.

As Surrey’s batters made hay on the final day of the season, Glamorgan’s part-timers all came on to have a bowl and the 11th and final man to enter the attack was the Welsh side’s skipper and wicketkeeper, Chris Cooke.

Having hit an unbeaten double century earlier in the game, the 35-year-old bowled the first deliveries of his professional career, finishing with figures of 0-19 from his three overs. Behind the stumps as Cooke’s replacement was veteran seamer Michael Hogan, with Cooke’s final over bringing the match to its conclusion.

Earlier in the day, Rutherford had claimed the maiden wicket of his first-class career, bowling Ollie Pope who departed for 274, the highest score of his career. The England batter finished the summer with 861 County Championship runs at an average of 78.27.
