Watch: Andre Russell was on the receiving end of one of the strangest run outs you will ever see, with the ball ricocheting off one set of stumps onto the other in the Bangladesh Premier League.

Playing for Minster Group Dhaka in the second game of the 2022 edition of the BPL, Russell had hit a single off his first ball and smashed a six off his second before attempting to work his third behind square on the off-side.

He and Mahmudullah set off for a single, with the non-striker seemingly the batter in danger as Khulna Tigers fielder Tanzid Hassan took aim at the stumps at the striker’s end.

He nailed a direct hit, but Mahmudullah had made his ground. However, in a freak twist of fate, the ball skewed off the first set of stumps and bounced down the pitch, cannoning into the sticks at the non-striker’s end. Russell, looking behind him to see if his partner had made his ground, was left stranded, and had to walk off for seven.

Minster Group Dhaka still managed to make 183-6, despite Russell’s misfortune.
