BAN vs NZ, 3rd ODI: Team news

The third ODI of the Bangladesh vs New Zealand series will be the final international game for either team ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup. Both teams are without a lot of their first-choice players, including those who will feature at the World Cup, but would want to head into the tournament with a victory behind their back nonetheless.

The biggest positive for Bangladesh from the two games that have been played in this series so far would be the bowling of Mustafizur Rahman, who seemed to have been short on rhythm before the series. Tamim Iqbal returned to score some runs in the second ODI as well (44, to be precise).

New Zealand won the second ODI comprehensively with their entire middle order chipping in. Tom Blundell top-scored with 68 from 66 balls, while Ish Sodhi was the star of the show, scoring a crucial 35 at No.8 and then proceeding to take a career-best haul of 6-39. New Zealand would want more of the same in the third and final match of the series.

BAN vs NZ, 3rd ODI: Playing XIs

Bangladesh: Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Tanzid Hasan, Mahmudullah, Towhid Hridoy, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Zakir Hasan, Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam, Khaled Ahmed

New Zealand: Finn Allen, Will Young, Dean Foxcroft, Henry Nicholls, Tom Blundell (wk), Rachin Ravindra, Cole McConchie, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson (c), Adam Milne

Match prediction – Today’s Bangladesh-New Zealand live match

New Zealand beat Bangladesh in an ODI in Mirpur for the first time since 2011 in the second match of the series. Missing several first-choice players seems to be affecting Bangladesh more than New Zealand. However, Bangladesh have lost only three out of their 17 ODI series at home and won’t be going down without a fight.
