BAN vs NZ, 2nd ODI: Team news

Bangladesh to continue with the same XI from the last match comprising comeback men Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah. Litton Das marshalled his troops well in the first match while leading the side in place of regular skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who’s rested for the series. The tourists were reduced to 136-5 before the rain had played a spoilsport.

Mustafizur Rahman, who was once the lynchpin of the pace attack, has significantly gone down the pecking order during their fast-bowling renaissance under Allan Donald. He proved his mettle in the curtain-raiser game with figures of 7-27-3. Pacer Khaled Ahmed gets a game in place of gloveman Nurul Hasan and Hasan Mahmud comes in place of Tanzim Hasan Sakib. Litton will keep wickets.

In what was an underwhelming batting effort, a couple of tourists shone with the willow. Will Young top-scored with a patchy 58 (91) while Henry Nicholls made a contribution of 44 (57). However, at no point were the Kiwis able to break free from the clutches of the hosts. They will also play the same team unless there’s an injury scare. The ‘Blackcaps’ have kept their team unchanged.

BAN vs NZ, 2nd ODI: Playing XIs

Match prediction – Today’s Bangladesh-New Zealand live match

Bangladesh and their happy hunting ground Mirpur is a match made in heaven. Despite looking rusty during their disappointing Super Fours exit in Asia Cup 2023, the bowlers were able to turn the heat on Lockie Ferguson’s men in the last game.

The key to New Zealand’s success lies in how they will tackle the slower bowlers on the placid, low wicket of Sher-e-Bangla stadium. They would like to put an end to the unwanted 13-year away losing streak against the ‘Tigers’: they lost 0-4 in 2010 and 0-3 in 2013.

The second ODI is expected to be a cracker of a contest with Bangladesh having their nose slightly ahead
