Bangladesh will come into the series high on confidence having whitewashed England recently in a three-match T20I series. The Tigers gave a good account of themselves in the ODI series that preceded the T20Is, ultimately going down 2-1 to the reigning world champions.
Tamim Iqbal will lead a strong Bangladesh unit that would be wanting to put the disappointment of the England ODI series behind them. Shakib Al Hasan, as always, is expected to play a key role. Litton Das could also be crucial for Bangladesh at the top of the order and would hope for a fruitful run.
On the bowling front, the presence of Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed should hold them in good stead. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nasum Ahmed and Shakib, meanwhile, will spearhead the spin-bowling department.
Ireland, meanwhile, will be led by Andy Balbirnie and he will, in all likelihood, open alongside Paul Stirling. Harry Tector has been in fine form in ODI cricket and will be vital to Ireland’s chances of upsetting Bangladesh on their home patch. Andy McBrine, Curtis Campher, Fionn Hand and Mark Adair can also hold their own, and would hope to make an impact in the ODI series against Bangladesh.
The first match of the series takes place on March 18, with the second game slated for March 20. The final ODI of the series will take place on March 23. Each of these fixtures will happen at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet.
