The two teams will feature in their first Test since 2015. Historically, India enjoy a 6-0 record in eight Tests, right from Bangladesh’s debut Test in 2000, to their last trip seven years ago.
India suffered a major blow with the injury to Rohit Sharma, who is been ruled out for at least the first Test. In his absence, the side has drafted in Abhimanyu Easwaran, who was part of the India A squad in Bangladesh. Additionally, Navdeep Saini has been added to the Test squad, along with Jaydev Unadkat and Saurabh Kumar.
Bangladesh will be led by Shakib Al Hasan, their highest wicket taker in Tests. The first Test will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium in Chittagong.
