Watch: Mujeeb Ur Rahman bowled a wicked carrom ball that came in with the angle and drifted away from the left-handed Najmul Hossain Shanto, castling his off-stump and setting Afghanistan up for a historic ODI series win against Bangladesh on July 9.

Having won the first ODI on July 5, Afghanistan lost the toss and were sent in to bat in the second ODI of the three-match series.  Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the Afghan openers, combined to stitch a record 256-run opening stand.

Both scored hundreds and broke several individual as well as partnership records. Afghanistan looked well set to get close to 400 at one stage, but a collapse restricted them to 331-9.

Bangladesh got off to a contrasting start. Captain Litton Das was out for 13, top-edging a pull off Fazalhaq Farooqi. Shanto, who scored two hundreds in the one-off Test against Afghanistan last month, came in at three.

Mujeeb had opened bowling as he usually does. Bowling from round the wicket, he got the fifth ball of his third over to drift away from the left-handed Shanto viciously. The ball seemed to be angled in towards the stumps as it landed on a back of length on the line of the stumps.

Shanto, playing for the original angle of the ball, was foxed completely as the ball swung away and beat his outside edge comfortably to crash into the off stump and taking it out to give Afghanistan their second wicket.

Bangladesh never really got going after that. Mushfiqur Rahim played a lone hand of 69 at No.6 as the hosts were all out for 189. Mujeeb finished 3-40 from 10 overs as Afghanistan took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. They became only the second team after England to win an ODI series in Bangladesh since India in 2014.
