Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by 546 runs in the only Test match of the tour, at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. The teams will now clash in three day-night ODIs, to be played at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chittagong, on July 5, 8, and 11.

These will be followed by two Twenty20 Internationals on July 14 and 16, at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Since their 0-2 defeat against India in June 2014, Bangladesh have lost a bilateral ODI series at home to any side other than England, who beat them in 2016/17 and 2022/23. Over this period, Bangladesh have won 14 series and lost these two, and their head-to-head reads 38-11.

Afghanistan, too, have been in terrific form, having won 12 ODIs and lost five since the pandemic. Their win-loss ratio of 2.4 is the joint-best in the world over this period. They will be boosted by the return of Rashid Khan, who had missed the Test match.

Bangladesh hold a 7-4 lead over Afghanistan, but on Bangladesh soil, that reads 4-3. They had beaten Bangladesh in the 2014 Asia Cup, but the hosts won the bilateral series in 2016 and 2021/22 by 2-1 margins.
