Watch: Australia’s Travis Head effected a sensational run out with a reflex throw from short leg, beating West Indies’ Kavem Hodge during the third day of the Brisbane Test.
On day two, Australia declared despite being 35 runs behind the West Indies, picking up a wicket before stumps.
On the third day, a piece of sensational fielding by Head helped pick up the key wicket of No.5 Hodge, who debuted in the Adelaide Test.
Off the last ball of the 50th over, Hodge tried to work Nathan Lyon to the leg side, but couldn’t get past Head, stationed at short leg. He grabbed the ball and threw it towards the stumps in one motion. Hodge, out of his crease as he completed the stroke, did well to dive back in but couldn’t beat the throw.
Replays confirmed that Hodge’s bat wasn’t grounded when Head’s incredible throw made contact with the stumps.
At tea, West Indies were 183-6, having collected a lead of 205 runs.
