Watch: Shamar Joseph continued to be the man of the moment, braving a toe injury to run through Australia’s middle order, picking up Cameron Green and Travis Head off back-to-back deliveries in the Brisbane Test.

Set a target of 216, Australia lost Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne inside 50 runs, before Cameron Green and opener Steve Smith steadied the innings.

There were doubts that Joseph, injured by a Mitchell Starc yorker on day three, would be able to take the field, but scans cleared him of a fracture. He had to retire hurt, leaving the West Indies on 193, and giving Australia a target of 216.

However, Joseph braved injury and took the field on day four, creating a stunning impact with the ball.

He first had Cameron Green bowled with a sharply rising delivery that knocked him on the elbow and cannoned into the stumps. Green, disappointed by the manner of his dismissal, looked at his elbow as he walked off.

The next ball, a searing yorker, knocked out Travis Head’s stumps, giving him a king pair – he had been dismissed by Kemar Roach for a golden duck in the first innings.

That was not all: he went on to send back Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey and Pat Cummins as West Indies rapidly clawed back into the game. At the time of writing, they had slipped to 183-8, still needing 33 to get. Smith braved the onslaught, remaining unbeaten on 74.

Shamar had a debut to remember in Adelaide, first scoring 36 from No.11 and then picking up a five-wicket haul.
