Watch: A determined lower-order knock from Kemar Roach came to an unfortunate end when he slipped over after being turned back halfway down the pitch, giving Australia an easy runout.

Having started day two of the second Test match of the series in Brisbane on 266-8, Roach and debutant Kevin Sinclair built a solid partnership to take the West Indies up to a respectable first innings total. Having batted for 14 overs, the pair had put on 34 valuable runs, with Roach on eight off 39 balls and Sinclair the main run scorer on 39.

However, disaster struck just after the drinks break. Pat Cummins pitched the ball on the stumps to Roach, who defended it into the pitch and set off for a quick single. Having set off immediately from the non-striker’s end, Sinclair hesitated when he saw Marnus Labuschagne haring in towards the ball from the ring. He called no when Roach was running full tilt halfway down the pitch.

As Roach attempted to stop his momentum and turn back towards his crease, he skidded, with his feet eventually sliding out completely from underneath him. He landed heavily on his back, and could only watch from the ground as Labuschagne threw the ball in to Travis Head who had run up to the stumps.

As Roach walked off the field with his head bowed, Sinclair remained on his haunches looking sheepish. West Indies were eventually bowled out for 311, Sinclair the final wicket to fall having reached his half-century with a six from the previous delivery.
