Watch: Andre Russell smashed four sixes off Adam Zampa – three in a row – during his pulsating 71 off 29 in the third T20I between Australia and West Indies at Perth.

Russell was the hero for West Indies in their 31-run win over Australia, helping them recover from 17-3 and then 79-5 to post 220-6 in 20 overs. Russell combined with Sherfane Rutherford (67 off 40) in a record 139-run sixth wicket stand that propelled the West Indies past 200.

Along the way, Russell smashed four fours and seven sixes, but a big chunk of his run-making was reserved for leg-spinner Adam Zampa, whom he carted for 28 runs in the 19th over of the innings.

Russell clattered a six off the first ball, managing to clear the fence without properly middling the ball. He missed the next one, but fetched a four off the third ball, with Tim David spilling a difficult chance in the deep. He followed it with three consecutive sixes, collecting 28 runs in total from the over. It took him past his fifty and raced the West Indies past 200.

Zampa finished with figures of 4-0-65-1, the first time he had conceded more than 50 in a T20I game.

In response, Australia managed 183-5 in 20 overs: the series currently stands 2-1 in Australia’s favour.
