Cameron Green catch vs West Indies

Watch: Cameron Green dived full-length to his left at mid-wicket to take a stunning catch inches off the ground in the second ODI between Australia and West Indies today (February 4).

West Indies won the toss and elected to field first in the second ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Several Australian batters got off to starts before Sean Abbott‘s 69 off 63 balls at No.8 propelled them to a competitive total of 258. Gudakesh Motie was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, taking 3-28 from his 10 overs.

In response, West Indies started poorly. None of their top three scored more than 11 as they lost their first three wickets for 34. Shai Hope and Keacy Carty steadied proceedings for a bit, but weren’t able to keep the scoreboard ticking at close to the required rate.

The West Indies run chase went nowhere as they continued to lose wickets regularly. Roston Chase, batting at No.6, was the ninth wicket to fall at the score of 167, all but ending West Indies’ hopes in the game.

Chase flicked a back of length ball by Abbott towards mid-wicket where Green flung himself to his left and held on to a brilliant one-handed catch inches off the ground.

Nicknamed ‘Albatross’, the commentators were all praise for Green’s athleticism and reach. “It’s a stunner. To his left. It’s Cameron Green – the Albatross,” said Isa Guha on air.

The last wicket fell at 175 as West Indies lost the game by 83 runs. Having taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three match series, Australia will now be looking to complete a whitewash in Canberra when they meet for the final ODI on February 6.
