Watch: Shaheen Shah Afridi delivered an exhibition with the new ball, bowling Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, before Haris Rauf capitalised on the good start with two early wickets of his own.

India were left in a hole at 66-4, but rebounded to post 266 before rain washed out the Pakistan chase.

Having opted to bat first under cloudy skies, India were put under pressure almost immediately by Shaheen. While somewhat wayward before an early rain delay, Shaheen returned with his radar in perfect position, and bowled Rohit with a cracker, having beaten the bat earlier in the over. Sneaking through the gap between bat and pad, Shaheen pegged back Rohit’s off-stump to give Pakistan an early breakthrough.

One became two as Kohli failed to get to grips with a two-paced pitch, attempting to run down to third man only to chop on to his stumps. Shreyas Iyer was the next to go, though the No.4 wasn’t bowled. Instead, he pulled Rauf to mid-wicket, where Fakhar Zaman claimed a sharp catch.

After a short reprieve, the stumps were back to being smashed, with a searing, seaming corker from Rauf taking Gill’s inside-edge on its way to the timber.

India recovered through eighties from Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya, with an intriguing game seemingly in store. However, rain had been forecast, and rain arrived, never stopping for long enough to allow Pakistan’s chase to start.
