Rohit Sharma tried to shoo away camera operator | IND vs PAK | Asia Cup 2023

Watch: In yet another edition of Rohit Sharma being his true, unabashed self, the India captain attempted to shoo away a cameraperson who tried to capture him in the India dugout, during the India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 game.

Rohit and Shubman Gill opened for India under overcast conditions, opting to bat first despite the cloud cover. With rain forecast through the day, it wasn’t surprising that the players were back in the dugout by the fifth over itself.

As the players waited in the dugout, prepping to get back on, one of the camerapersons tried to get a close-up shot of Rohit. As the lens zoomed into him, Rohit looked right in, and waved at the cameraperson to stop filming him.

The lens-bearing staff did not relent, forcing Rohit’s gesture to become more forceful and desperate. Words were uttered. The camera operator, doing his/her job, did not relent. It was only cut by a transition shot – the producer probably got the message.

As usual, there was no dearth of memes on social media, with someone likening it to photographers zooming into guests’ food at weddings.

Rohit was dismissed not soon after, falling to a Shaheen Afridi delivery to give Pakistan their first breakthrough. Later, Virat Kohli, too, lost his stumps to the left-arm quick, as India’s top order crumbled. Afridi finished with a four-for, but 80s from the pair of Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya carried India to 266.
