India are up against defending champions Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final on September 17 in Colombo. Here are the weather updates for the IND vs SL ODI including the latest rain predictions.

After winning two out of their three Super Fours matches, both teams will square off against each other in their eighth head-to-head Asia Cup final. Rohit Sharma’s men lead the record with seven titles (1984, 1988, 1990/91, 1995, 2010, 2016 and 2018) against Sri Lanka, who have won six times (1986, 1997, 2004, 2008, 2014, 2022).

A confident India would look to stretch their trophy tally despite their minor hiccups in the six-run loss in the dead-rubber against Bangladesh. For the final showdown, the Super Fours table toppers would like to include five of their rested senior players (Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya) from the previous inconsequential clash. Axar Patel sustained multiple injuries while batting in the previous match, making his selection doubtful. Spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar was named as his cover.

Meanwhile, in a hunt to retain their title, Sri Lanka won a last-over thriller against Pakistan, which saw them through to the final. With two runs needed from a ball, Charith Asalanka steered his team home with a calm 49*(47). Batter Sahan Arachchige, who played two ODIs, was called in as the replacement for an injured Maheesh Theekshana. Theekshana sustained a hamstring tear, ruling him out of Sunday’s contest.

AccuWeather predicts September 17 to be “cloudy with thundershower in parts of the area in the morning followed by a couple of thunderstorms in the afternoon” during the day and “cloudy with a couple of evening thunderstorms followed by a thundershower in parts of the area” during the night. The probability of rain is high – hovering between 89 and 90 per cent – during the day and night, respectively.

BBC Weather’s rain predictor varies between 43 to 73 per cent during the match hours, with temperatures supposed to range between 27 and 28 degrees Celsius.

Weather.com has predicted thundershowers during the match hours. The chance of precipitation varies from 50 per cent to as high as 80 per cent.
