It was Moeen’s second wicket of the day after he snared Travis Head, who tamely chipped a ball straight into the hands of Zak Crawley at mid-wicket. Green fell for 38 but was fortunate not to be out second ball after Jonny Bairstow missed a relatively straightforward stumping chance, also off the bowling of Moeen.
The Edgbaston Test marks Moeen’s first since he reversed his retirement from the format after England’s regular spinner Jack Leach was ruled out of the series through injury.
