Watch: Pakistan A seamer Shahnawaz Dahani took five-for in the fourth match of the Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup against Nepal today (July 14), destroying their top-order and setting his team up for a convincing victory.
Both teams were playing their first game of the tournament. Nepal won the toss and elected to bat first at the Colombo Cricket Club ground. Dahani, who has played for the senior men’s Pakistan side, shared the new ball with Mohammad Wasim and wreaked havoc on the Nepal top order.
He first knocked out the stumps of opener Kushal Bhurtel in his very first over, then followed it up by picking up the other opener Aasif Sheikh in his second.
His new-ball partner Wasim then joined in on the act, removing Nepal captain Rohit Paudel and Bhim Sharki in the fifth and seventh over respectively to leave Nepal tottering at 37-4.

Dahani took two more inside the first ten overs of the innings as he got rid of Arjun Saud and Pawan Sarraf. Nepal then stitched a rearguard partnership with the help of Sompal Kami and Pratis GC which took their score past 175.
Dahani then came back to pick the wicket of Kami, who had frustrated Pakistan A with his score of 75 batting at No.9. He ended with figures of 10-3-38-5.
Nepal finished on 179 and Pakistan A chased it down with more than a hundred balls and four wickets to spare. Tayyab Tahir top-scored for them with a 67-ball 51 at No.4, while Saim Ayub, Omair Yousuf, and Kamran Ghulam chipped in with decent contributions to take Pakistan A over the line.
Pakistan A’s next match is against UAE A on July 17 at the P Sara Oval, Colombo.
