When the ICC introduced their retrospective rankings spanning all Test cricket since 1876/77, only one person – an Australian legend – was found to have attained a rating in excess of 950.
Another Australian (active in 2024), is second, with 947, while one of England’s greatest opening batters of all time had attained 945.
The six batters to have scaled the 940-mark as of October 16, 2024, are all from Australia or England, but more countries join in as one scrolls down the list of 900-plus ratings.
