It’s been less than three years since Joe Root first captained England in Test cricket.
His time at the helm has been one marked with inconsistency. Root’s win percentage as captain (51.28) is actually higher than all other England captains this century but his loss ratio of 38.46 per cent is also higher than every other captain to have led England in more than 15 Tests since 2000.
