The last time Sri Lanka beat India in an ODI series was a 3-0 victory at home in 1997. A total of 12 Indians and 15 Sri Lankans took part across the three matches in that bilateral encounter.
One of the Sri Lankans from 1997 was involved with the team in 2024, and another one is currently an international umpire. Two members of the Indian squad in 1997 have gone on to serve as the head coach of the Indian team later on.
