Anderson undoubtedly ranks among the greatest – if not the greatest – Test quicks of all time. And while his one-day career came to a close by 2015, he still finished with 269 wickets, the most by any England men’s ODI player.
His ODI debut came exactly two decades ago – on December 15, 2022 – against Australia in Melbourne. On a day (and night) when Adam Gilchrist smashed a 104-ball 124, Anderson finished with figures of 6-0-41-1, claiming the scalp of the centurion as his first international wicket. Then a 20-year-old with gold streaked hair, Anderson went on to play 194 ODIs.
