In this quiz, you have to name every batter to have scored 1,200 Test runs in a calendar year until 2023.
In 1958, a West Indian legend became the first to breach the 1,200-run mark in a calendar year. An Australian joined him in 1964, but there was no one else until 1974.
Until the new millennium, the count stood at only 14. Between 2001 and 2010, however, there were 26 additions to the list – a testimony to the batting-friendliness of the decade. At the top of the pile was a Pakistani, whose 1,788 runs in 2006 remains a world record. The fact that he is the only one from his country to breach the 1,000-run mark makes him even more special.
Between 2019 and 2023, however, there have been only two entries – an Englishman in 2021 and an Australian in 2023. In all, there have been 55 such instances. How many can you name in nine minutes?
