In this quiz, you have to name the batters who have hit five or more sixes in an over in first-class cricket.

More than 16 decades passed by in first-class cricket before a batter hit five sixes in an over. One may argue that until 1889, overs in England constituted of four balls, and between 1889 and 1900, five balls. At the same time, eight-ball overs were the norm in Australia and New Zealand between the early 1920s and 1979/80.

The first to hit five sixes in an over was a Somerset batter, widely acknowledged as a foremost power-hitter in first-class cricket. Perhaps to establish his credentials, he did this twice, in 1936 and 1938. He remained the only one to achieve this twice until a contemporary Test captain emulated him in 2011 and 2022.

In 1968, a West Indian legend got the perfect six – one off each ball of the over – against Glamorgan. This feat has been equalled only once, in 1984/85.

The 17 instances (including 15 different batters), updated until July 27, 2024, includes two entries from this year. Can you name all of them in three minutes?
