Biography

A right arm fast-medium slingy bowler, Tapash Baisya made his debut at the age of 19, scoring a half century playing at number nine. He made it to the Bangladesh national team along with Mashrafe Mortaza while the side was making their stand at the international Test scene. He has the zippy bowling action to get real quick speeds but when it comes to consistency he has faltered. With 36 wickets in his 21 matches, his bowling average took a pasting standing at almost 60. He did well on the tour of Australia in 2003. However, he failed to deliver in the wickets column despite bowling with a big heart. He was dropped from the squad for the 2007 World Cup and from there on, he only failed to make the cut to the top ranks. He joined the rebel league in 2008 but discontinued after a season. But that did not stop the Bangladesh Cricket Board from slapping him a 10-year ban.
