Biography
Left arm spin which was once the domain of a chosen few has now become synonymous with Bangladeshi cricket. Earlier, it was Mohammad Rafique who pioneered the art and now the team has the likes of Shakib Al Hasan, Abdur Razzaq and the latest entry Md. Sohrawordi carrying on the tradition.
Sohrawordi, who has two Under-19 World Cups under his belt impressed many with his performances in first class cricket, when from his first 15 games, he scalped 69 wickets and top scored with 72. Handed his ODI cap, the youngster initially struggled, prizing just one wicket in his first four ODIs but came good in a game against the Kiwis scalping 3 wickets and giving away just 14 runs in his 10 overs.
Not a great turner of the ball, Sohrawordi is a bowler who believes in sticking to a tight line and length, waiting for the batsman to commit a mistake. His more than useful batting has also earned him the all-rounder’s tag in the domestic circuit.
