Biography

Rudi Second is a wicket-keeper batsman hailing from Queenstown, Cape Province. Second can be recognized as South Africa's First-class veteran as he has played more than 100 FC matches and has 6500-plus runs to his name. He has been one of the unluckiest players who failed to make it in the national squad. The presence of AB de Villiers and Quinton de Kock kept him away from entering the national squad. Known for his consistency, Second amassed 684 runs in the 2016-17 domestic season and ended as the second-highest run-scorer for the Knights.

Rudi's phenomenal form eventually grabbed the eyeballs of the selectors. After a long wait, in August 2019, the 30-year old was named in South Africa's Test squad for the series against India. But life has been cruel to him as in the same month, he was ruled out of the series due to an injury and was replaced by Heinrich Klaasen.
