Biography

Minod Bhanuka is a Sri Lankan wicket-keeper hailing from Maliyadewa College, Kurunegala. He rose to ranks after playing for Sri Lanka's U-19 team and was also part of the 2014 Youth World Cup. In the same year in December, he made his List A debut for the Sinhalese Sports Club and a month later he made his first-class and T20 debut representing the same club. In 2015–16 Premier League Tournament during a first-class match against the Badureliya Sports Club, he scored a mammoth 342 runs and quickly brought himself under the selector's radar.

After some fine performances at the domestic level, the southpaw finally managed to earn an international call-up in 2017. He was named in Sri Lanka's T20I squad for their series against Pakistan but he did not feature in the playing XI. The determined Bhanuka went ahead to prove his mettle and played for some other teams like Kandy, Dambulla, and Galle at the domestic level. In September 2019 after many Sri Lankan regular players opted out of the Pakistan tour due to security fears, Bhanuka was named in Sri Lanka's ODI and T20I squad.
