Biography

A right-hand batsman, Kirk Edwards made his first-class debut for Barbados in 2006. He has also represented West Indies A and the Under-19 team. Born in a cricketing family, Edwards is a solid middle-order batsman who's temperament is sound enough for the longest format of the game, Test cricket.

After a successful domestic campaign, Edwards made his ODI debut in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup against India, wherein he was called as the replacement for injured Carlton Baugh. Later that year, he played his first Test against India and announced himself with a century on debut. In the process, he became the 14th West Indian to achieve the feat. He was soon handed over the vice-captaincy of the West Indies team under Darren Sammy in 2012. Kirk Edwards continues to be a key part of the West Indian top order in Tests.
