Biography
A right-handed opening batsman, Mohsin Khan was not only a good looking Pakistani, but also a wonderful cricketer.
Mohsin made his international debut in 1977 in an ODI against West Indies. He was one of the very few cricketers in his country to have mastered the art of playing the extra bounce on Australian pitches. In 1982, he became the first Pakistani to score a Test double hundred at Lord’s and in the following season, hit two back-to-back centuries in Australia. This was just a glimpse of his cricketing talent. Had he not retired from all forms of cricket in 1986 to pursue a career in the film industry, Mohsin would have gone on to become one of Pakistan’s star players. He married bollywood actress, Reena Roy and shifted his base to India, acting in a number of films.
However, in 2010, Mohsin was appointed chief selector of the Pakistan national cricket team, replacing Iqbal Qasim and that marked his return to his old profession. A year later, when Waqar Younis stepped down as the team’s coach, it was Mohsin who named his successor ahead of Pakistan’s series against Sri Lanka.
