Biography
Often spotted with a new hair-do, Dane Piedt first caught the eyeballs of the cricketing world when he claimed the best figures by a South African spinner on debut since Aubrey Faulkner in 1906. However, the off spinner was never persisted with consistently which can be seen from the fact that his 9 Test matches spanned over five years. During South Africa's tough tour of India in 2019, Dane was handed the opportunity in favourable conditions but he failed to impress. He also got tagged to an unwanted record of conceding the most number of sixes by a bowler in a Test series. Soon, Piedt fell off the radar of the selectors and in March 2020, he decided to end his career.
