Biography

Chandrasekar Ganapathy is a right-arm fast bowler and a right-handed batsman from Tamil Nadu who made his first-class debut in the 2003-04 season and instantly impressed with his bowling, bagging 17 wickets that season.

Ganapathy bowls with a decent pace and has a flair for the away movement. Post debut, he went through a quiet phase in his career, as nothing substantial happened. However, it was in the 2008-09 season that he truly emerged as a fast bowling all-rounder and displayed his potential. His useful bowling helped Tamil Nadu reach the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy. Ganapathy was equally adept with the bat. He scored 543 runs at a staggering 77.57 and took 18 wickets at the end of the following season. His brilliant domestic performances led to an IPL contract with the Chennai Super Kings in the 2010 edition, though he played just a single game. Ganapathy's hard work earned him rich dividends in the form of an India A call-up for the tour to England later that year, in place of Abhimanyu Mithun.
