Born in Gujarat, Azharuddin Bilakhia first appeared for his state in an Under-19 game against Mumbai in 2002. A fine knock of 72 on debut, that too against one of the toughest oppositions brought him to notice. He then went on to make his first-class debut against Bengal in 2005.

A former India Under-19 player, Bilakhia also plies his trade for Baroda. He made his Twenty20 debut against Maharashtra in 2007.
