Biography
A right-arm medium-fast bowler, Asad Ali made his first-class debut for Faisalabad in 2005 against Sialkot. He was the highest wicket-taker in the President's Cup of 2013 with 14 scalps in six matches. His ability to swing the ball both ways and hit perfect lines and lengths makes him a dangerous prospect for the opposition. Being a consistent performer in the domestic circuit, his splendid exploits of 102 wickets at an average less than 20 in the combined 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons fast-tracked him into the Pakistan ODI squad that toured India in 2012 but he couldn't make a cut in the final eleven.
Ali finally got a chance to break into the team on Pakistan's tour to Ireland and Scotland in 2013 where he bowled a disciplined spell of 1/22 from 10 overs. He was selected in the warm-up game against South Africa before the Champions Trophy where he continued his good form scalping 3/30 from 10 overs. However, he did not get a game in the main leg of the ICC tournament.
