Biography

In just his third One Day International, Australian Anthony Stuart grabbed a hat-trick against Pakistan at the MCG in 1996-97. The right-arm fast bowler debuted for New South Wales in 1994 and went on to collect some valuable returns for his side.

From there, though, Stuart's career went through a rough patch as he did not represent Australia after the hat-trick show and was also dropped from the New South Wales XI squad. He then joined the Australian Capital Territory side in 1999-00 and impressed with 11 wickets in six games – his only stint with the team. But, he soon returned to Sydney and started playing with the Eastern Suburbs. With that came the same disciplined line and length, pace and seam that were his assets when he peaked. Post retirement, Stuart moved to New South Wales and took to coaching. He was appointed coach of Wellington in 2006 and was given a contract extension in 2008. Stuart was then named coach of the New South Wales state team ahead of the Champions League T20 2011, held in India.
