Biography

Andre Botha, an all-rounder is a South African-born Irish cricketer is considered to be a stalwart of Irish cricket. His contributions with the bat in the final were crucial as he helped Ireland win the 2005 Intercontinental Cup against Sri Lanka.

Botha made his ODI debut in 2006 against England where he scored 52 followed by another half century against the Dutch. During the 2007 World Cricket League he failed to contribute with the bat but did well with the ball picking 13 wickets. In the same year he scored 157 putting up a record 360-run partnership with Eoin Morgan in the 2007 Intercontinental Cup against UAE. At the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup Botha produced a match-winning performance to help the Irish produce the shock of the tournament by defeating Pakistan. He was part of the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup squad before announcing his retirement from international cricket in May 2011.
