Watch: Virat Kohli was annoyed by Rinku Singh ahead of today’s IPL 2024 clash between KKR and RCB for breaking the bat he had gifted to the left-hander.

Following RCB and KKR’s first encounter in IPL 2024 at Bengaluru, Kohli had gifted one of his bats to Rinku Singh. A day before the reverse fixture at the Eden Gardens, Rinku revealed to Kohli that he had broken the bat, much to Kohli’s anger.

Kolkata Knight Riders uploaded a video of the interaction between the two India players at the Eden Gardens dressing room. Rinku is seen coming up to Kohli and informing him that he broke his bat while batting against a spinner. Kohli asks him to show the broken part of the bat, then sarcastically thanks him for letting him know.

“Spinner pe toot gaya bat (The bat broke against a spinner),” Rinku said. “Mera bat? Spinner pe tod diya tune? Kaha se toota? Toh mai kya karu bhai? (My bat? You broke it against a spinner? From where did it break? What can I do about it, brother?)” was Kohli’s response.

“Kuch nahi bas bata raha tha (Nothing, I was just telling you),” Rinku said answering Kohli’s question. “Koi nahi, bata diya tune, badhiya hai. Mujhe information nahi chahiye (No worries, good that you told me. Anyway, I don’t need the information)”, Kohli said sarcastically.

Rinku then tried to request for another bat, but was clearly finding it difficult to put forward the request in front of Kohli, who was already miffed by that point.

“Toh bhej rahe ho aap? (So are you sending one?),” Rinku asked. “Kisko bhej rahe ho? (Sending whom?”) Kohli asked back tersely. “Lo yaar, rakh lo (“Let it be, keep it!),” Rinku said as he gave Kohli’s bats back to him.

“Ek match pehle le gaya tu bat. 2 match me tujhe 2 bat du? Teri wajah se na, jo meri baad me haalat hoti hai na (You took a bat one match back, now you want me to give you two bats in two matches? I have to face the consequences at the end),” Kohli told Rinku.

“Aap ki kasam khaa raha hu, fir nahi todunga kabhi bat. Toot ke rakhi hai, aapko dikhata hu (I swear on you I won’t break your bat ever again. I’ve kept the broken one, I can show it to you),” Rinku said towards the end of the video, basically pleading Kohli to lend him another bat.

Whether Kohli eventually gave in to Rinku’s request is not known yet.
